This morning
Carlie Herich completed her first ever 10k Open water swim by
competiting in the 2010 US Master National Open Water
Championships. This 10k swim also marks a first for the Clippers as
well.
During the last
couple years Carlie was intrigued by the idea of trying a 10k. She
has had success in previous open water swims but none of them were
as long as the 6.2 miles she was planning for today. After 2 hours
and 16 minutes she climbed out of the lake nearly 1 minute and 30
seconds faster than the next closest female competitor and only 5
male competitors finished ahead of her. The competition had over
100 participants ranging from 18-66.
Congratulations
Carlie on a huge accomplishment. The next goal for her will be to
participate in the US Swimming Open Water Nationals next
year.
